Some
have a vision, some have a mission but ours is the passion
for the people of India and especially for Bihar. Bihar
is the second most populated state in India with a population
of about 90 million people. Out of these, 60% live below
the poverty line (Unable to get three meals a day). Literacy
levels among men are less than 45% while that of women are
less than 35%. With little or no educational infrastructure
for higher and technical education, more than 17,000 students
are forced to migrate to other parts of India every year
to pursue their higher education. It is these factors that
led to the formation of MEWT with a primary mission and
focus to help people who cannot help themselves by emphasizing
on the need of education, which can empower people and can
make a positive change to their lives.
MEWT’s primary
focus on education is guided by a firm belief that investment
in education goes a long way in uplifting any society. An
educated person will not only be self-sufficient, but will
also carve out for themselves and others a better future
and a prosperous life. Asserting that the widespread literacy
and education is the foundation for a vibrant and tolerant
society.
