Though
the number of literate people in India has increased over
the years, the literacy rate in bihar is abysmally low.
It still has the largest number of uneducated children in
India. There aren’t many schools and colleges to support
education on a higher level resulting in children being
forced to work as laborers at a very early age. In pursuance
of its aim, the trust has proposed to assist students at
both primary and secondary levels. It chose to ignite the
blossoming flowers of tomorrow by providing educational
scholarships for their bright future. Every year MEWT gives
a total of 30 scholarships for the students in primary,
middle and the secondary levels.
With a population of over
90 million, Bihar’s total intake capacity of all the
Engineering colleges put together is just 2,100 students
per year. Comparatively, other states with half of its population
enjoy over 70,000 student intake. In order to address the
shortage in higher education, MEWT intends to open up new
avenues for higher technical education and management studies
by building an Engineering College & Management Institution
in Bihar. MEWT aims to create an environment which can provide
committed teachers, effective programs, dedicated administrators
and excellent facilities to students who are willing and
able to learn. MEWT has already started the construction
work on a vast 32 acres of land and is planning to start
the academic year in 2011. MEWT hopes to provide a lasting
difference to students, and impact the future of education
in their communities.
It is committed to develop
a new breed of engineers and managers who are technologically
advanced and creatively ignited. The aim will be to impart
quality education with a view to make the aspiring students
professionally sound, possessing highest technical skills,
maintaining a high moral and improved personality, international
competitiveness, equipped with modern and advanced knowledge.
Apart from providing education,
MEWT aims to promote self sufficiency among the lower strata
of the society by encouraging them to form self-help groups
by providing training, infrastucture facility and funding
for poor men and women, help them to form self help groups
for starting up small self-employment projects and business
activities and make them self reliant and to lead a dignified
life. The core idea is to promote the society as a whole
rather than individuals.
MEWT is registered
under the Government of India Trust Act in July 2007 and
is funded by trustees who manage it together with Advisory
council appointed by the trustees who enable the smooth
running of the Trust. Though MEWT aims at running the foundation
on its own without relying on charity or donations yet it
welcomes people who want to be part of our mission to ensure
the right of education to India’s most underprivileged
children.
